TEDxBoston 2016 explored artificial intelligence and machine learning (AIML), a field of exciting, exponential growth. As curators, we sought to bring a greater understanding of how this technology works, how it’s changing our lives, and most importantly, the research being done to create these tools.

Our guests covered topics from the evolution of deep learning to some of the cutting edge applications of this technology in medicine and healthcare.

Hugo Larochelle, machine learning researcher at Twitter, introduced us to the work that has gone into one of the most popular and exciting areas of artificial intelligence, deep learning.

Ben Vigoda, Founder of Gamalon Machine Intelligence, showed us one possible future for creating machines that will be able to act rationally.

Ryan Adams, former Harvard professor, researcher at Twitter, and Co-host of the podcast that I produce, Talking Machines, and I interviewed Andrew Ng, head of research for Baidu about how he sees the world of work and education changing.

All of our speakers did an amazing job bringing these topics to life. It was a great experience to see the conversation around this topic expand for a live audience.
