Our team appreciates the importance of a good conversation and the power of stories to shape social action. Last week, we kicked off our new blog series, The Narrative Universe, in which we will explore the role of stories in individual and the collective behavior. We help our clients craft their stories and create forums for sharing them as effectively as possible. It’s work that we love to do.

There is an amazing example of the power of creating a forum for conversation and storytelling happening today. Bell Canada is facilitating a dialogue—one that a lot of people are reluctant to have—about mental illness.

#BellLetsTalk is trending on twitter right now and for every retweet, Bell will donate 5 cents to mental health initiatives. At the time of posting this, #BellLetsTalk has been re-tweeted almost 1,900,000 times.

Breaking down the stigma around mental health is a great cause and there are obviously many who want to join the effort. The response to this campaign from people all around the world has been phenomenal. Creating a forum for a conversation or listening to someone’s story is powerful and can make a huge difference to someone who needs help.
